How to Be a Sucess Right Now!

Everyone had their own definition of success and what it means to you. Take a look at one woman’s view. Feel free to leave your comments about your own ideas of success on the blog.

How to Be a Sucess Right Now!

Is success only defined by having money and all of the luxuries that rich people have? Lots of people with the most money, have done nothing but be born in to the ‘right’ family. Does this mean they are a success? I don’t think so.

What does success mean to you? Does it mean doing something that you want to do and doing it well? I think this is closer to how I would define success. Success is achievement.

I believe that to feel successful, we have to be happy with what we are doing, and we have to achieve the dreams and goals that we have, whatever they are. Achieving something can produce a feeling of satisfaction and self esteem.

Even someone who only wants to bake a cake can feel enormously gratified just to see their finished creation. In some cases, this can mean as little as the fact that the cake did not burn, is not lopsided, and did not fall apart coming out of the pan. It doesn’t have to be featured in a gourmet magazine to give us this feeling of victory. Naturally, if the recipients of our creation, in this case our cake, enjoy it and appreciate our efforts, this is the grandest part of our success.

Another definition of success to me would be in our interactions with others. It can be as small as a smile that brightens another person’s day. Naturally, if that person had been lonely or feeling dejected, the pay back is even greater when you sense their gratitude. You probably didn’t put on your coat and say, today, I will succeed at making someone’s day better by being nice.

However, you know it when it happens, and it will really register, especially if you have ever been lonely and know what
it feels like. This funny little thing we humans do, but not enough, is just turn up the corners of your mouth and mean it,
whenever you cross paths with anyone! This gives you a nice little high for a minute. Without even trying very hard, you can feel and be a successful human being.

This is also important from a business standpoint. Be friendly and genuine. Of course, online we can’t smile in the usual way, but we can still add some sunshine to our communications. There is just something about being friendly and genuine that says so much more about us and our business than officious, cold communications-’To whom it may concern’. Feel the difference: “Dilbert, we received…” and “Hi, Dilbert, we received…”.

If we take a split second to say ‘hi’, or ‘how are you doing today?’ it speaks volumes about us being a person, and not a
robot. This will break the ice in a way that can only benefit you, because right there you have established a commonality - and begun to build relationship — person to person!

Business need to prepare for illness

What a novel idea! Sorry if I am being sarcastic, but this is something I’ve been saying for a long time. If you are sick, please stay home instead of sharing your viruses with others. This is especially true when you work in health care - the people you expose your viruses too often already have a weakened immune system. Instead what happens often happens is ones misplaced sense of duty kicks in and we must go to work, OR the boss says that you must come in.

While Washington is warning businesses that they need to prepare for bird flu, perhaps they should remind businesses that employees need to stay home with any contagious virus.

WASHINGTON - Businesses need to plan on having 40 percent of their workforces out if a flu pandemic strikes and need to start rewarding employees for staying home when they are sick, government advisers told a conference Tuesday. You can read the full article here.

Business Insurance

If any of you reading this has an issue or question about using Pre-Paid legal, let me assure you that is is well worth the cost - both for business and personal use. I only wish I had discovered it previously. For more information, please contact the associated listed below.

======================

It’s not just a Challenge anymore, it’s a Problem!

Daily, small business owners are faced with many challenges including marketing and expanding their product line, growing and supporting their customer base, hiring competent employees, maintaining adequate cash flow … and the list goes on. Now, we can add another challenge to the list, which has turned into ONE BIG PROBLEM: an ever expanding liability crisis.

We all know that we live in a highly litigious society. People are quick to sue. At times this is justified, but too often it is not. Regardless, the party being sued has to respond to the charges and defend itself. That defense can be very costly in terms of time and dollars. Due to this high cost of defense, businesses may chose to settle a case rather than to proof their innocence.

Whatever a company decides, the fact remains that law suits (justified or not) can and do force businesses to raise their prices, scale down their operations, and or close their doors altogether when they have to pay to defend themselves.

What is the solution, you ask? Simple, get insured for your legal needs, just as you do for your medical needs.

But wait what about all the day to day small business challenges you talked about earlier? Well, there is no insurance for that (that I know of). However, there is a paid plan that offers you both: help with your day-to-day business challenges and legal help and assistance when you need it. The plan is the Small Business Plan, offered through PrePaidLegal.

In essence, the Small Business Plan is your legal, marketing, accounting, finance, human resources and technology department all in one. You can sign up for most plans for about $2.50 a day, roughly the cost of a cup of Java. A number a small business plans are available depending on the size of the business and the state you do business in.

What happens when your computer crashes?

You may have already read, but the OlderWiserWomen computer suffered a hard drive failure…on Thanksgiving Eve! No fun at all. I was lucky enough that we had more than one in the house and my partner insists that we share.

However…all my work in locked in a non-functional disk. Fortunately, I did backup. New drive should arrive tomorrow and hopefully I’ll be able to restore without difficulty.

Do you have a plan in place? What kind of back ups are you doing? How often? Do you keep a copy of your back up off premises?

You can bet my plan is getting an update! It’s true…it’s not a matter of if, but when…

Do you have problems getting projects done?

I dont know about you, but sometimes its so easy to get off tasks and just not accomplish the things that I want to.

Well right now, Im participating in something called the 90 Day Product Factory. Its been wonderful. Its like a giant, supportive mastermind group where everyone is working hard to come out with a product in 90 days or less. Many are producing more than one. The support, education, and partners are wonderful. I can hardly wait to bring everyone the new resources, partners and products that Im discovering (and making).

But thats not what this article is about. In the Product Factory, I learned about something called an Integrity Day and its been awesome! What is it?

Basically, you commit to something that you are going to accomplish and then check in with the group (via a bridge line) on an hourly basis. For example, you commit to say…writing an article or a page on you website or even clean your bathroom. You call in on the top of the hour, say what you are going to do, and then hang up. The entire hourly call lasts 5 minutes or less each hour. When you hang up, you actually do what you said you would. When you call back in the next hour, you report what you have gotten done and tell them what you will do in the next hour. People get amazing amounts of work done!

Why?

First of all, you get totally focused on what you want to get done. Secondly, you are committing to what you want to do to a group of people not your partner or friends who may let you off the hook. What happens if you dont follow through? No one gets on your case…chances are you will do that yourself. Its your own word, your integrity that is at stake.

Give it a try…I think you too will be impressed. Personally, this is something I would like to keep going long after the completion of the Product Factory.

And by the way, check out the Product Factory. Its amazing.

Getting Started on the Internet

I’d seen this course around the internet for years. I didn’t buy it, figuring it to be all hype like so many other things. I think we all become jaded. Heck…if you are like me, I bet you bought some things that just didn’t work (junk perhaps?), got put away and never used.

This isn’t even the first product I purchased from the Internet Marketing Center. In fact, what I purchased first was a set of excellent DVD’s. I was amazed at how much I learned watching them. Things that were just not clicking for me were finally making sense. While I was already working on the internet, I decided to purchase this course. I just wish I had done so earlier. Using the dvd’s along with the book has done wonders for shortening my learning curve.

Every time I open up one of the two binders, I find and learn something else. The workbooks, the cd’s, the quick start guides…there is so much information.

But, I don’t worry about information overload with this course. It’s arranged so that I can break it into bits and pieces, working on just the areas I need to at the moment. I like that because I’m not always a star- here-finish-there sort of person. I like to move around.

I use this course in a few different ways. If I know that I’m weak in an area, I’ll turn to that part of the course and read up on what I could be doing. Other times, I’ll just skim the table of contents and find an area that I’ve not even considered and see what’s being said.

I’m no techno-geek (heck, I’m a medical provider!), so I was worried if I would be able to understand it all. That was needless worry! It’s easy to read, easy to understand.

All this information is great…as along as you put it into practice. Kind of like exercise…knowing we need to do it does us no good unless we take action.

I encourage you to check out the course, I cannot imagine that you would be sorry.

Here’s a hint that I did not know before I purchased the course and wish I had…if you go thorough this link, and sign up as an affiliate of the program, you can purchase the course through YOUR own affiliate link…and YOU receive the commission. Talk about a winning situation for all concerned! Is it legal? Absolutely! They are the ones that told me about it!

Until next time,
