7 Ways To Make Money With Articles

If you write and submit articles on the Internet, you need to make sure you are getting the most money out of each article. Here are the 7 different ways to make money with articles:

1. Promote Your Website

Add your author bio at the end of each article with a short ad for your products or services and a link to your website. People who like your article and click on your link will be more ready to buy from you than a cold prospect.

2. Promote Affiliate Products

You can promote affiliate products in your author bio, and make commissions on all the sales you refer. Just register a domain name (so your link at the end of the article looks professional), and redirect it to your affiliate link.

3. Content Sites With Adsense

Use your articles to build content websites packed with useful information. Content websites are likely to get lots of free traffic from search engines. Place the Google Adsense advertisements on your pages, and get paid for each click.

4. Blogs

Start publishing a blog. Search engines love blogs because they are regularly updated with fresh content. Blogs tend to get a lot of traffic from search engines. Break-up your articles into smaller chunks and turn them into blog entries.

5. Mailing List

Collect your website visitors names and e-mail addresses – ask them to sign up for your newsletter. Regularly e-mail your articles to your newsletter subscribers, along with promotions for your website.

6. Information Products

When you accumulate enough articles, compile them into an e-book. Turn your articles into book chapters. Change a fewthings here and there, and you will have a new information product to sell.

7. Viral E-Books

Instead of selling the e-book that you made from your articles, you can also use a viral marketing approach. Addpromotional copy to your e-book along with links to your website and affiliate links, and give it away. It will spread around the Internet like a virus, advertising your products and services and putting more money in your pocket.

Self Publishing

Published by Barbara under Writing

OlderWiserWomen has been working on a book that is a collection of stories from women which shares their thoughts and visions. Because of that, I often get asked about self publishing. Here are some thoughts.

The best place to get information on how to structure, format, publish, etc, is from Dan Poynter - owner of ParaPub, where you can find all sorts of free information and tools. I especially find his books are invaluable - especially the two listed below:

I discussed this at length with a friend who just came out with her book. She is sorry she did not follow more of the advice laid out in the book, especially when it comes to getting a editor. One cannot possibly see what they have written. I totally agree with that one…we are just too close to it and our minds see what we want to say, not what we’ve written.

Let me know if you have questions or suggestions about this…we are always learning!

Self Publishing, pdf and pre-selling

I recently answered a question that someone had about using pagemaker or another program to format her book in. She also asked about pre-selling. Hopefully, you will find it helpful.

“““““““

I don’t know anything about page maker. Do you have MSWord or WordPerfect or something similar? I believe you can produce your document in those programs and convert it to pdf. I know you can in Word. Adobe has an online service for converting up to 5 documents into pdf format for free or use a free program called pdf995.

The best place to get information on how to format etc, is from Dan Poynter. There is a bonus call recorded from the last product factory. Listen to it, but also get his book “The Self Publishing Manual“. Another excellent book that Dan has out is “Writing Nonfiction: Turning Thoughts into Books“. Both are excellent.

Also visit his website at www.parapub.com - he has lots of free tools. The call also spoke of a template (he gives you the link to get it - free).

As far as pre-selling, you can do that easily (easy is relative). I’m working in this right now as I have a chapter in a book coming out in December. It goes to print this week, and I just got the final mms this weekend. So if anyone else has suggestions…I’m all ears.

Things to consider:

  • Discount the price
  • Offer free shipping
  • Offer the ebook as a bonus so your customers can have a digital format now and the physical book when the printing is done.
  • Offer other bonuses with the book
  • Consider doing a teleclass as a bonus to discuss certain principals or aspects of the book to those who purchase pre-publication.

If the book is not yet completed, you can start with an e-course, first chapter, etc. I understand that Stephen King put out one of his books in digital format, chapter by chapter. I’m not even sure if the hard cover book was ever published.

Hope this helps,
